Hi! This is Rachel from Knitting Pattern Central. (I would e-mail you, but I couldn't find your address.) My favorite flower happens to be a pink rose and yours is gorgeous!

Thank you for linking to me...do you mind me linking to your patterns? I don't know how many extra visitors you get that way, but I wouldn't want to be taking up all your bandwith by sending them to you.

Anyway...just wanted to say love the rose! I might not see your comment if you reply, so if you want to write back, here's the place:

Thanks!

For a video to see how to knit into the front and back of a stitch go to this website.

http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/increase.php

Scroll down until you see "Bar Increase" on the right hand side of the screen. Then you can click on kfb. (They have videos for both English and Continental Knitters.)

I love this pattern; I made the flower and leaf and tacked it onto a cute little ruffly hat for my grandaughter for her first birthday...it was a great hit...she looked adorable and my DIL was thrilled with the added touch of the flower.

Thanks so much, Sarah. I have been knitting some chemo caps for women and girls who have lost their hair due to chemo therapy. The rose will make a great decoration. Karen in Oregon

Thanks for the great pattern. I used it with fuzzy yarns, and made three flowers (two white, one pink) for my corsage. I gave it to my Grandma, and now she wants your pattern to make one for my aunt! My mother loved it so much, I had to make her one for her birthday. I do recommend making it in a chenille or something like that--the roses look more realistic. Anyway, you made a lot of people very happy, so thanks!

great, really easy but stitch counts at the end of increase rows would be helpful to help keep track

i just made it- its more of a spiral- not really a rose, but a nice ornament for a piece of clothing anyways.

Hi! This is Linda and I was the one that requested the Rose Flower Pin .... it took me forever searching the internet for a pattern.. I picked one up at a craft show, but the person who made them was not available, and lucky me to have found Sarah's Yarn Box ... I have had so many comments of how gorgeous it is ... they all want one! Thumbs up to you! Linda

I'm not sure exactly what type of pin backs you're looking for. The ones I used are similar to the ones on this site.

Most craft stores should carry them. Or just google "pin back."

Good luck!

Hi Sarah, I made this rose in yellow as it is our sorority symbol, it turned out so well I am going to make a pin for each member in our chapter. Your pattern is the best "rose" I have seen, thanks for sharing, it is beautiful.

For the person who wanted to know how to make it bigger: I wanted to also, and I just continued with the same cycle for another couple rows. That is, after I had the 48 stitches this pattern ends with, I knitted across, then did knit into front and back of each stitch to go across the next row (thus ending with 96 stitches) and then K'd across the row after that. I also found that K2tog along the way when I was casting off helped give even more curve to the outer edge of the flower.

hmmm it looks difficult to make. but thanks for sharing this tutorial.

I finally made a headband to keep my ears warm in the winter (now that this winter is over, of course), and I asked a more experienced friend where I could find a flower knitting pattern so that I could make a flower to put on the seam. She recommended that I search for "free knitting patterns flower". I found knittingpatterncentral.com, which has this link. I consider myself a "medium beginner" knitter, and this pattern definitely looks like one I can handle. [I have made many tiny and small items using the knit stitch (some with a yo and k2tog) and a couple of k1p1 samples, and I am interested in learning another increase method.] Thank you for your pretty pattern!

How big is it?

Sarah said...

This makes a flower that is approximately 2 inches across. You can make it bigger or smaller by using a different size of needles and yarn.

I love the rose! Thank you so much for the pattern. I have been looking for a good pattern for a rose or another type of flower and this is perfect. This is really great. Also, I found you on Knitting Pattern Central.
Anyways, thanks again. Really nice pattern... if anyone knows of something similar to this, please post it. PLEASE, I am desperate for flower patterns... I want to make a whole bouquet of flowers. I started knitting six years ago and love it! So much fun to knit away and I especially love knitting short, easy patterns. Thanks again (I know, I'm starting to sound repetitive. It's not like everyone is going to be reading this. There's so many posts that no one has time to read through them all.) Anyway, thanks again (...no comment this time, it only leads to more repetition...)
